Video-Matic

Blur Part of a Video

To blur part of a video, upload the clip, specify the rectangular zone you want hidden — a face, a license plate, a screen showing personal data — and download the video with that region blurred on every frame. It all happens online, in the browser.

Publishing raw footage can expose things you never meant to share: bystanders who did not consent, plates that identify a car, notifications popping up in a screen recording. Blurring the sensitive region lets you publish the video while keeping those details private.

How it works

  1. 1

    Upload your video

Drop in the clip, up to 500 MB — phone footage, dashcam video or screen recordings all work. Scrub through it to locate exactly what needs hiding.

  2. 2

    Mark the zone to blur

Set the rectangle with x and y coordinates plus a width and height. Cover the face, plate or on-screen detail fully, with a small margin so edges never peek out.

  3. 3

    Download the blurred video

The blur is applied to that region across the entire clip and a new file is rendered. Preview it, confirm the sensitive detail is unreadable, and download.

Why use Video-Matic

Protects people and privacy

Faces, plates, addresses and screen contents stay unreadable, so you can share real footage without exposing anyone.

You choose exactly what hides

The blur applies only to the rectangle you define — the action around it keeps its full original sharpness.

GDPR-friendly processing

Fitting for privacy work: files are handled on EU servers in Paris and auto-deleted within 24 hours of processing.

No installs, any device

Blur a clip from a phone, tablet or laptop browser — useful when footage needs redacting quickly before it is shared.

Frequently asked questions

Can I blur a face that moves through the shot?

The blur zone stays fixed for the whole video, so for a moving face you need a rectangle covering its full path — or split the video into shorter segments with the trimmer and blur each one with its own zone. For a subject sitting roughly still, one snug rectangle is enough.

Is the blur strong enough that the detail cannot be recovered?

The region is heavily blurred on every frame, making text, faces and plates unreadable in the output file. As with any redaction, review the result before publishing — and keep the original private, since the blur exists only in the new file you download.

How many videos can I blur for free?

One to start: the job costs 3 credits and new accounts receive 3 free credits. Beyond that, one-time credit packs on the pricing page cover as many videos as you need, with no subscription or recurring charge attached.

Can I blur several separate areas in the same video?

Each job blurs one rectangular zone. To hide multiple areas — say a face and a laptop screen — run the output through the tool again with a second zone. Each pass costs its own credits, so plan the rectangles to cover as much as possible per run.
